Second in Evans' trilogy.

Major Pettigrew's Last Stand is a lovely story about a budding romance between a retired British army major and a Pakistani woman who runs a grocery shop in their small English village. Objections to their relationship arise from all sides--family, friends, and community--and they must decide which is more important, their familial ties and customs or their own happiness. Written with subtle humor and endearing main characters, this book is one of my favorite reads of the year.

This is a fun book and is well worth reading. It certainly gives the reader food for thought, encourages people to think carefully about what they purchase and may even give them an incentive to buy locally!
