Growing up in Hamilton, Montana, blocks away from an awesome independent bookstore I got hooked on reading at an early age. In high school I worked at the bookstore and then headed off to the book mecca of Portland, Oregon for college. My husband and I came to Walden, Vermont in 2010 for a farming internship and were so taken with the area that we decided to stay. I'm so excited to be working at a bookstore again, especially one as lovely as The Galaxy Bookshop!

Set less than 40 miles from my hometown, I like to read this book when I'm feeling homesick. It gives me a great sense of where I'm from, as well as a giant swell of gratitude that I never had to spend 7 months in a wall tent, most of them freezing cold, watching over salmon eggs.
