SUMMARY:Ron Krupp - presented by Buffalo Mountain Food Co-op
DESCRIPTION:<p>
 Ron Krupp\, known for his book<em> The Woodchuck's Guide to Gardening </em>is now the author of a second book\, <em>Lifting the Yoke\: Local Solutions to America's Farm and Food Crisis</em>. Krupp has a long history of involvement with Vermont's local farm and food issues\, beginning with founding one of the first farmer's markets in the early 70s in Brattleboro.
 </p>
 <p>
 <strong>The Buffalo Mountain Food Co-op and The Galaxy Bookshop are pleased to welcome Ron Krupp for a discussion of his new book on Tuesday\, July 21 at 7 p.m. </strong>
 </p>
 <p>
 In <em>Lifting the Yoke</em>\, Ron Krupp presents a look at the corporate food industry\, the damage it has caused and continues to cause our environment\, our local economies\, and our health. He offers many examples of ways in which small farms\, co-ops\, food shelves\, and other businesses and individuals are creating alternatives to the mainstream food industry.

 Back by popular demand--Stardust Books &amp\; Cafe is pleased to host their second Poetry Slam of 2009.
 </p>
 <p>
 Poets\, listeners\, and art enthusiasts of all ages are invited to attend this high-energy literary event. Poets should bring two original poems. A voluntary donation of $1 is requested at the door. Income from donations goes to the winner. Poets are free to perform original works in any style on any subject. No props\, costumes or instruments.
 </p>
 <p>
 All members of the public are invited to listen\, compete or judge. Free refreshments will be served.
 </p>
 <p>
 <em>Poetry Slam\, the art of competitive poetry can incorporate<br />
 elements of storytelling\, hip-hop and stand-up comedy. The open format of the competition\, along with the absurdity inherent in trying to quantify art\, have inspired slammers to take the stage for over 20 years.</em>
